On Wednesday May 9th, The Canadian Institute is holding their 17th Annual Forum on Anti-Money Laundering & Financial Crime. This two day event is for compliance professionals to learn and network with industries leaders and prominent regulators who will be there to discuss Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations and advance strategies to combat cyberfraud.
Larry Keating, President and CEO of NPC, will be presenting the closing keynote of the forum "The Emerging Tsunami: Cyber Fraud & Implications for FIs and Law Enforcement". During this session, the attendees will discover what the emerging threats to Canadian financial institutions are, how regulators are becoming more demanding with data protection, and a deconstruction of the most common types of cyberfraud: botnets, ransomware, BEC, and cryptomining.
Attacks have reached near epidemic proportions and are extending beyond surreptitiously encrypted endpoint computers to server lockouts, confidential information extortion and persistent worm infections for repeated ransom demands. He will also outline the current state and near-term outlook for these threats, the distribution methodology, defence strategies, as well as the ethical conundrum of paying criminals that funds more criminality.
The 17th Annual Form on Anti-Money Laundering & Financial Crime is held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Toronto, Ontario.
